The Studio · behind the mark

One press. The story of our mark.

How a thumbprint in wet clay became the Clayit identity.

Look closer.

the dab · first touch
the press · four rings
the echo · two answers

Shaped, not stamped.

A stamp repeats. A press responds. The mark had to hold that idea in a single gesture · pressure, ripple, reply. No closed shapes, no perfect symmetry, nothing a machine would draw on its own.

Construction

Drawn on a 100-unit grid.

Four arcs step outward in perfect tens · radius 12, 22, 32, 42. Two arcs answer on the right. One dab where the thumb lands. One stroke weight throughout · 3.4 units, rounded at every terminal. Seven strokes. Nothing more.

Symbolism

Reading the mark.

01 · the dab

The first touch. Every project starts with a human hand on soft material, and the mark keeps that moment at its centre.

02 · the rings

The ripple of good work. Four arcs step outward in even tens, the way pressure moves through a surface that remembers.

03 · the breaks

Nothing here is a closed circle. Hand-made keeps its openings, and the gaps are where a client's story enters.

04 · the echo

The right side answers the left. We make, the work speaks back. A monologue would have been a logo; this is a dialogue.

05 · the terminals

Every stroke ends rounded, never cut. Clay does not break at right angles, and neither does anything we ship.

Process

Five decisions shaped it.

01 · One grid

Everything lives on a single 100-unit square. Radii step in tens, so the mark scales from a favicon to a wall without redrawing.

02 · Broken, on purpose

A closed ring reads as machine-perfect. Every arc in the mark stays open, because nothing made by hand is a sealed circle.

03 · Stroke 3.4

Thinner turned fragile at small sizes, thicker turned heavy at large ones. One weight, 3.4 units, holds every scale.

04 · The echo

Without the two answering arcs the mark was a press with no reply. With them it became a conversation, which is the job.

05 · One color at a time

Coral, porcelain, ink or clay. The mark never gradients, never outlines, never doubles up. One voice per surface.
