Al Masaood
Al Masaood Magazine
About
The fifth edition of Al Masaood’s corporate magazine, set in English and Arabic on facing pages so that neither language reads as a translation of the other.
Context
The grid has to hold two directions at once. English runs left to right down one page, Arabic runs right to left down the other, and the two meet at a gutter carrying the anniversary device. Features are allowed to run long. A product review sits across a full dark spread with the car lit against a night skyline. An interview runs on a teal ground with the pull quote set large in Arabic. The cover works in gold line on cream, a network of small icons standing in for the divisions of the group, with the Tajdeed wordmark underneath. Advertising sits on the back cover and on interior pages inside the same system rather than fighting it for attention. Printed and bound, it is the piece here that has to survive being read rather than looked at.
